Armenia Submits Application to ITU for Registration of Satellite Orbital Position

YEREVAN — The Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia submitted an international application to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the registration of the right to geostationary orbital position.


Gagik Grigoryan, the Head of Staff of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia highlighted: “We are currently engaged in the preparatory activities advancing the upcoming negotiations with a number of international organizations regarding the possible support to the satellite program of the Republic of Armenia.”


ITUOne of the largest and most influential state companies of China is interested in co-financing the Armenian satellite program. The preliminary cost of realization of the Armenian satellite program is USD 250 million.


Canadian “MDA” company is also interested in direct involvement in the Armenian Space Program. MDA is a global communications and information company providing operational solutions to commercial and government organizations worldwide.


Over the past four decades MDA has created a highly skilled organization that provides communications and information solutions which improve the operational performance of business and government organizations worldwide.
